We witnessed tribes practicing traditional customs, sat with troupes of Galada monkeys in the Simien Mountains, visited ancient churches carved from stone, walked amongst the sulphur springs of Dallol, made a brief stop at the lowest point on earth in the Danikil Depression, watched salt miners carve salt bricks and load their precious commodity onto camels to be carried in caravans across the hot dessert. Senait was our tour coordinator and she took excellent care of us. She met with us the morning after we arrived and had her finger on the pulse throughout our entire tour. She coordinated the itinerary, vans, drivers, domestic flights, accommodations, restaurants enroute, tours and personal guides who met us at each location plus she was constantly communicating with our drivers to confirm everything was going as planned.
